Another blast from the past...

Here's another afghan I made, this time for my son.  I made it sometime between 2001 and 2003.  I copied the pattern from a very colorful afghan my grandmother gave me in 1988.

The picture is a little dark.  When I'm up in Washington next week I'll try to get a better picture.

  1. Grandmarockton....I made up the pattern based on the afghan my grandmother made. I do 5 dc on either side and then the pattern is in multiples of 5. So a small sample would be:

    Chain 28
row 1 - dc in 4th chain from hook and every chain, chain 3 turn (counts as first dc of next row)
rows 2 dc in next dc. repeat across row. chain 3 turn
    rows 3 - 4 repeat row 2

row 5 - dc in next 5 dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next 5 dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next 5 dc, chain 3 turn

row 6 - dc in next 9 dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next dc, double treble in next dc wrapping around the front post two rows down, dc in next 10 dc, chain 3, turn

repeat rows 5 and 6 until you have the size you want.

you can either do a double treble or just a treble. Since I crochet fairly tightly, the treble pulled too much for me.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Oh shoot....do row 5 as described.

row 6 should just be dc across.

then do row 7 as described in row 6 above.

    Sorry about that!!
